Currently

I am a data journalist at Big Local News at Stanford University, where we process data, build tools, and hold trainings to help newsrooms and local reporters produce impactful reporting.

Previously

I analyzed and visualized data for Civic News Company, where I collaborated with national and local reporters covering education, voting rights, and public health. I also hold a master’s degree in journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism in New York, specializing in business and economics reporting and serving as the founding president of the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) pilot and graduate‑only student chapter.

At the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism — one of the world’s oldest nonprofit investigative newsrooms — I reported on elections (campaign finance, procurement, and social media and disinformation), energy transition, and attacks on press freedom. As the organization’s sole multimedia reporter, I also created graphics, short videos, podcasts, and social media templates. Before that, I produced award‑winning documentaries for ABS‑CBN Corporation, the Philippines’ largest media network until it was forced off the air by the Duterte administration in 2020.

Elsewhere

I am the 2026 recipient of the Frederic Wiegold Prize for Business Journalism. In 2025, I gave a talk about creative sourcing to navigate data dearth, constrained environments, and limited resources at the Computation + Journalism Symposium in Florida, and I was invited to be a judge at the Association of International Broadcasting (AIB) Awards.

My reporting from Manila was featured in the Global Investigative Journalism Network’s guide on investigative reporting. I also previously joined a cohort of journalists from 20 different countries for the U.S. Department of State’s Edward R. Murrow Program, a professional exchange program in which participants are nominated by U.S. embassies worldwide and undergo a rigorous two-year vetting process.

Outside of journalism, I enjoy opera, doodling, and parks. I also like little treats. :)
